Takashi Saito
Japanese veteran who signed a Minor League contract for the 2006 season. Saito is the oldest rookie in the Dodgers' history. Saito got the chance to show his talent in the Majors after a season ending injury to closer Eric Gagne, and he pitched brilliant against the Major League hitters, as he did not allow a run until his 9th appearance out of the bullpen, which eventually have him winning the closer role. Saito continues to flourish throughout the 2006 season, as he recorded Dodgers' franchise rookie record of 24 saves, and led all relievers with 107 strikeouts. Pictured here is his 2006 Upper Deck Foil Silver Parallel rookie card, where only 399 of these were made.
