Hideo "The Tornado" Nomo
Nicknamed "The Tornado" with his unorthodox windup, Nomo took baseball by storm in 1995. Nomomania continued for years wherever Nomo went until more players from Japan were heading over to the Major League. In his first career start for the Red Sox on the 2001 opening day, Nomo recorded his 2nd career no-hitter, and he become only one of five pitchers to ever throw a no-no in both AL and NL. In 2005, Nomo recorded his 200th career professional win (US/Japan combined) with the Devil Rays and after everyone thought he was finished, he made a comeback with the Royals in 2008, albeit only for three games. Pictured here is his 1996 Upper Deck Collector's Choice International Flavor card during his first tenure with the Dodgers. That year Nomo pitched a no-hitter in hitter friendly Coors' Field, and he is still the only pitcher to have achieve that amazing feat.
