Born in the Land of the Rising Sun, moved to the Land Down Under at age three, later on attended college in the United States, Nakamura is a proud citizen of both Japan and Australia with his mixed heritage. Nakamura struggled in the Major League, but found superb success in Japan where he recorded 39 saves as the closer for the 2006 Japan Series champion Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters.
