Kuwata has two decades of professional baseball experience with 118 complete games back home in Japan with the famous Yomiuri Giants. After teams in Japan no longer wanted his service, Kuwata decided to sign a Minor League deal with the Pirates over the Dodgers and Red Sox, where he earned a spot and become the oldest rookie in Major League in 47 years. As expected, Kuwata was long past his prime did not have much to offer and only lasted two months as a Major Leaguer. Pictured here is his 2003 BBM card, showing him leading Japan's Central League in ERA the year before.
