Kenji Johjima
After going through seven different catchers in 2005 where they combined of hitting .216 with 10 home runs and 46 RBIs., the Mariners decided to covet Johjima, the best catcher from the Land of Rising Sun who played with Tadahito Iguchi for eight seasons back in Japan. Johjima set the AL record for rookie catchers with 147 hits, and with a cannon arm along his nimble feet, he was a seven time Gold Gloves winner in Japan. Pictured here is his 2006 Upper Deck Diamond Debut rookie card, commemorating his first game in the Major League on April 3rd, 2006, and Johjima hit his first career Major League homer that night off of previous year's AL Cy Young winner Bartolo Colon.
