"The Old Reflector"
"We Are The Champions..."
Congratulations to the Chicago White Sox as they
captured the 2005
World Series as I predicted. I'm happy
for Tadahito Iguchi, Man Soo Lee, and
rest of the Sox players
who never got the ring, but somehow I'm disappointed
for
Craig Biggio, Jeff Bagwell, and one of the manager I respect
the
most in the game Phil Garner. Astros' in 2006? Who knows...

"Stylin' & Profilin'."
I recently took some time and create a profile page of every
Asian player ever
appeared in the Major League. It is under
Far East Heroes with their career stats
up to 2005 and
a scan of their baseball card that I have in my collection.

"You Make The Call."
Human are not perfect, and it takes a men to admit
their fault but we
did not see it during the ALCS and NLCS.
Both the ALCS and NLCS
will be remembered for years
from now thanks to bad umpiring that changed
the outcome
in couple of games. Vote now to express your thought on
which idiot ump's call was worse, between Doug Eddings and
Phil Cuzzi.
Edding's dropped strike 3 call in ALCS Game 2 were
about just as hideous as
Britney Spears without any makeup's
on, while Cuzzi's strike zone in NLCS Game 4
were about just
as predicable as which cave Osama is currently hiding.
It is funny
that when you type in both Eddings/Cuzzi's name in google's
image
search, 90% of the images are arguing about calls they made.

On another note, here are who the readers thought would win it all.

"Sox and Stros."
Congratulations to both White Sox and the Astros, as they will meet this
Saturday night at 7:30 live on Fox for Game 1 of the 2005 World Series.
(10/19)

"World Series Bound."
Tadahito Iguchi helped the Chicago White Sox reach the World Series for
the first time in 46 years. Will St. Louis Cardinals' So Taguchi join him?
(10/17)

"Solo Act."
Hideki Matsui had his 1st post season homer and RBI in the Yankees'
11 - 7 loss to the Angels, now Angels are up 2 - 1 on the evil empires.
(10/7)

"Wang Treated Wrong."
25 million dollar a year man Alex Rodriguez's
costly error
in the 7th inning was crucial as it
played a major role
in Yankees' 5 - 3 loss to the
Angels. Chien-Ming Wang
took the tough loss but
he was sharp for the game gave up only 1 earned run.
(10/5)

"Playoff Power."
Tadahito Iguchi had a 3 run blast to help the White Sox
beat the Red Sox 5 - 4 and take a 2 - 0 series lead.
(10/5)

"2005 Fall Classic."
The field is set, Angels, Astros, Braves, Cardinals, Padres,
Red Sox, White Sox,
and Yankees all have a chance to win
it all. Please exercise "your" right and vote.
My guess is the
White Sox over the Cardinals in the World Series in 6 games.

"The Final Weekend Pt. 2."
If you ask me in May, I would never say Yankees would take
the AL East Crown
again this year because of their poor start,
but helps from players like
Robinson Cano, Aaron Small,
Chien-Ming Wang, where all 3 players are making less
than
1% of the team salary, they took the AL throne again.
Hideki Matsui helped to
clinch the title with a homer off
knuckleballer Tim Wakefield, as the Yankees win
8 - 4 over
the Red Sox. The White Sox, who already clinched the
AL Central, are
spoiling their divisional rival Indians' chance
of clinching the AL Wild Card, as
Tadahito Iguchi hits a 3 run
blast to give White Sox the 4 - 3 win. Tomo Ohka paid
for his
5 walks, and the Brewers couldn't get anything going
against
the Majors'
losingest pitcher as Milwaukee lost to Kip Wells (8-18)
and the Pirates, 5 - 1. At Shea,
Jae Seo pitched 6 strong innings
to help the Mets beat the Rockies, 3 - 1.
Chan Ho Park,
pitching in front of sellout crowd of PETCO Park,
pitched brilliant
but
his teammate just didn't give him the support, Hong-Chih Kuo
also appeared
in the game for the Dodgers, fanned the only
hitter that he faced, he now has
10 strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings,
not bad. Padres lose a tough one to the Dodgers, 2 - 1.
(10/1)

"The Final Weekend Pt. 1."
After 159 games, still undecided who is the top dawg of the
AL East, Chien-Ming Wang displayed uncharacteristic wildness,
allowing 5 runs while walking 6 batters
as the Yankees dropped
into a tie for 1st place in the AL East with 2 games to go
with
the 5 - 3 defeat in the hands of the Red Sox. Byung-Hyun Kim,
did not pitch
efficiently but was effective in the Rockies' 3 - 2 loss
to the Mets. Good news for Ichiro
though, as he collect 4 hits
in Mariners' 4 - 1 win over the Athletics, he reached the
200+ hits
plateau for the 5th consecutive season since coming from
Japan, and is the only player ever in the Major League
history to collect 200+ hits season in their first 5 years.
(9/30)

"Thursday's Turnouts."
Sunny Kim was hammered in his first start since pitching a
complete game shutout
at Coors' Field 5 days ago, as the
Rockies got embarrassed by the Mets, 11 - 0.
Hideki Matsui
had his 22nd homer during Yankee's 8 - 4 win over the Orioles,
with the
big games coming this weekend against the rival
Red Sox battling for the 1st place in
the AL East, Taiwanese
rookie Chien-Ming Wang will start the first of the three games.
(9/29)

"Shingo's Luck."
Shingo Takatsu, despite giving up a homer, notched
the
win thanks to Mets' comeback by scoring
4 runs on
top of the 8th. Mets defeat Phillies, 6 - 5.
(9/26)

"Pitching In."
Chien-Ming Wang earned his 8th win of the season by
pitching
7 solid innings in Yankees' 8 - 4 win over the
Blue Jays.
In extra innings, Aki Otsuka could not retire
any batters and the
Padres falls to the Diamondbacks,
4 - 3. Shigetoshi Hasegawa
was hammered in Detroit
where the Mariners got chewed out by the Tigers, 8 - 1.
(9/25)

"Strange Saturday Night."
"Comfortable" and "Coors Field" are terms that have historically
been oxymoronic
for pitchers, but Sunny Kim rewrote the book,
settling into a comfort zone rarely
seen in Denver's mile-high
atmosphere. Kim gave the performance of his career,
delivering
one of the finest pitched games in the Rockies' 13-year history.
Kim blanked
the Giants in a 6 - 0 complete-game shutout effort.
In the newly named Chase Field
formerly known as Bank One Ballpark,
Aki Otsuka took the loss after his reliever could
not get him out
of the jam in the 8th inning, Padres lose to Diamondbacks, 8 - 5.
(9/24)

"Asian Blasts."
So Taguchi had his 8th homer during Cardinals' 5 - 1 win
over the Reds, while
Hee Seop Choi collected his
15th homer in Dodgers' 3 - 2 loss to the Diamondbacks.
(9/21)

"Walk-Off Style."
Aki Otsuka pitched a scoreless top of 9th inning and got the W as
the Padres wins it in the bottom of the 9th against the Nationals, 2 - 1.
(9/18)

"Yes, No, Maybe?"
Finally, Japan has agree to participate in the World Baseball Classic.
In the beginning, the Japanese were quite too happy about the
game
being played around March and rather have it sometime in the
winter
around November or so, after further negotiations, Japan gives a yes.
(9/16)

Japan agrees to play in WBC

"Brew It Up."
Tomo Ohka carried a no-no into the 5th, but it
was
Milwaukee's offense
that set the tone for the game.
Brewers pounded the Diamondbacks, 14 - 2.
(9/15)

"Rally Royals."
Tadahito Iguchi hit his 14th round tripper of the
season, but White Sox
fall to the Royals, 10 - 9 as
Kansas City scored 3 runs in bottom of the 9th.
(9/14)

"New Week, New Result."
Chien-Ming Wang, with a little revenge in his mind
because
3 of his 4 losses came against Tampa Bay,
got some
timely hits from his teammates, and
Hideki Matsui
continue swinging the hot bat as the
Yankees beat
Devil Rays again, this time by score of 6 - 5.
(9/14)

"Magic #5."
Sunny Kim pitched through 5 innings and earn his 5th
victory of the season.
Rockies take advantage of
Dodgers'
3 costly errors and beat them, 6 - 4.
(9/13)

"1-2-3 and You're Out!"
Tomo Ohka struggle from the start, given up runs in
every inning he pitched
and was pulled after the 3rd.
Brewers' rally against the Astros was cut short, 7 - 5.
(9/10)

"Forgettable Friday Night."
Jae Seo pitched a complete game, but his team could not help
him out offensively.
Mets narrowly lost to the Cardinals, 3 - 2.
Byung-Hyun Kim tied a career high with
8 strikeouts, but one
swing, a three-run shot in the by Chad Tracy, sealed him
away from
winning, Rockies spanked by the Diamondbacks in Mile High, 7 - 1.
(9/9)

"Unwelcome Treatment."
Chien-Ming Wang, recently activated from the DL and
pitched for the first time
in 2 months was not sharp as
he is capable of. Yankees fall to the Devil Rays, 7 - 4.
(9/8)

"400th Milestone."
Congratulation to Godzilla, as Hideki Matsui hit his
400th
career professional
home run (Japan/US combined)
during Yankees' 5 - 4 win over the Devil Rays.
(9/7)

"No Rally Monkey."
Chan Ho Park didn't have a good start and barely lasted
for 5 innings. San Diego
score late but fall short by
a run. Padres lose a heartbreaker to Rockies, 5 - 4.
(9/6)

"The Brew Crew."
Tomo Ohka beats Cincy for the first time this season,
while lost 2 games to them
earlier this year, the only mistake
today was allowing a homer to Adam Dunn.
Brewers manage
to pull the game away late from the Reds, winning it 6 - 1.
(9/5)

"Weekend Warfare."
Did not update the site the last few days because I spend
the weekend
down where I got my degree from to catch the
East Carolina Pirates handle
its business against the
PDuke Blue Devils
in football, and I got one heck of tan.
Friday night, Sunny Kim got plenty of run support while
pitching
well despite he did not have his fastball that
night, and the Rockies trounced the Dodgers 11 - 3,
in the same game, Taiwanese prospect Hong-Chih Kuo
made his
ML debut. Saturday, high school teammate
Byung-Hyun Kim and Hee Seop Choi face off
against one
another
and Kim got the best of it as the Rockies blow out the
Dodgers again, this time by the score of 11 - 1. Near Disney Land,
Ichiro spark up
Seattle's offense on top of 9th and help the
Mariners beat Angels, 6 - 3. Sunday
afternoon, Jae Seo won
his 6th game in 7 starts, baffling Florida for 7 strong innings, and
Kaz Matsui helped with 3 hits and 3 runs scored to help the Mets
cruises by the Marlins,
7 - 1. Aki Otsuka took a tough L as the
Padres lost to the Brewers, 3 - 2 on a squeeze
bunt play,
Otsuka was down for a moment after hitting his head in the
dirt trying to scoop
the ball to the catcher on the
only play he could have made, but he seems to be ok now.
